Joan Myers is a transformational leader committed to ensuring and developing the United States competitiveness and global presence. As an early-adopter and creative problem-solver of innovative technology solutions, cyber, security and threat mitigation systems, she possesses an extensive knowledge of US global relations. Ms. Myers extensive skill sets provide a unique combination of depth in the cyber arts, logistics and experience in the policy arena. She is an inspiring and energizing team builder successfully bridging global cultural constituencies and digital domains in collaborative environments.
Ms. Myers is Director of Strategic Relationships & Innovation for Fulcrum, a company focused on pivotal performance globally in the DoD, IC, IT and heath care sectors. She is also co-founder of Strategic Link Partners which she created with a partner retired out of the Special Operation Forces community. Former positions include Director, Special Operation Forces (SOF) & Cyber Technologies, ARA, Director, U.S. Policy for SAS, President and CEO of the NC Technology Association and she served as an Assistant Secretary for the NC Department of Transportation.
Ms. Myers has deep expertise in cyber security, digital technologies, contingency planning, enterprise risk management, high threat scenarios, resiliency, logistics and asset protection. Actively engaged in the global Eisenhower Fellowship program, she studied Cyber Terrorism and led the effort to create the NC Defense and Security Technology Accelerator. In 2010 she was the chief architect of a Cyber Test Bed project for the Department of Homeland Security that engaged a holistic security model of threat, training and policy constructs targeted to businesses. Ms. Myers is viewed as resourceful, inspiring and innovative thought leader.
Joan was also appointed by President George W. Bush in 2004 to serve on the Presidential Rank Review Board. Ms. Myers has had a collaborative relationship with the FBI in the cyber and counterintelligence area that has spanned over a decade. She is a Certified Corporate Trainer and is a dynamic public speaker in the areas of leadership, threat, cyber, asset protection, risk management and innovation.
Joan serves on the Board of Trustees of the National Small Business Association and is an Advisory Board of Innovate Educate and Trisector Strategies. She is also a former Board Member of the Wake Tech Foundation, the RTP Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Other positions held include Past Chairman, Council of Regional Information Technology Associations, a former member of the College of Computing and Information Technology Advisory Board at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, a former Board member of the North Carolina Information Resource Management Commission and a former Board member of the Governor’s Commission on National and Community Service.
In 2013 Joan was conferred The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the State of North Carolina’s highest civilian honor for her work in national security, technology, and innovation. Joan is the winner of the 2007 Women of Achievement Award, 2003 Business Leader Magazine Woman Extraordinaire and was named one of the Top 25 Women in Business by the Triangle Business Journal in 2001.
